Summary
3-MAR produces a clear, focused stimulation reminiscent of 4-MAR but with more pronounced head pressure and emotional lability. Users describe strong synergy with amphetamine yet diminishing returns when redosed in isolation. Nasal administration is sharply caustic; vaporizing the freebase yields a rapid rush but encourages compulsive re-administration.
Dose Information
Dose basis. Ranges are compiled from scattered user reports and analog extrapolation (not clinical data). Potency may vary by isomer ratio (cis/trans) and salt vs freebase. Start low, titrate cautiously, and avoid rapid redosing. User reports describe notable causticity and mucosal irritation with aminorex analogues; dilute finely, avoid repeated backβtoβback lines, and rinse gently with isotonic saline postβuse. Add to PsychonautWiki Journal
The PsychonautWiki Journal logging app doesn't include every substance. To track 3-MAR there, start adding an ingestion, search for the name, and choose to add it as a custom substance. Paste these values:
3-MAR Source: SubstanceSearch (substancesearch.com) Oral dose (mg): threshold 5 Β· light 5-10 Β· common 10-20 Β· strong 20-35 Β· heavy 35+ Insufflated dose (mg): threshold 3 Β· light 3-7 Β· common 7-15 Β· strong 15-25 Β· heavy 25+ Smoked dose (mg): threshold 1-2 Β· light 2-5 Β· common 5-10 Β· strong 10-20 Β· heavy 20+ Oral duration: onset 20-40m Β· peak 0.5-3h Β· offset 2-6h Β· total 2.83-9.67h Β· after-effects 4-24h Insufflated duration: onset 5-10m Β· peak 0.5-3h Β· offset 2-6h Β· total 2.58-9.17h Β· after-effects 4-24h Smoked duration: onset <1-2m Β· peak 0.5-3h Β· offset 2-6h Β· total 4-12h Β· after-effects 4-24h Note: ranges are harm-reduction guidance, not a prescription. Start low, go slow, and test your substances.
Tip: for quicker logging you can also add a Custom Unit in the app, e.g. common dose ~ 15 mg (Oral).
The app keeps custom substances simple, so the full dose ranges live in the description text above. Ranges are harm-reduction guidance, not a prescription.
Tolerance
Tolerance Decay
Acute tolerance: develops within a single session β the reset numbers above apply after sustained heavy use, not after one binge. Within-session tachyphylaxis usually resets largely overnight.
Anecdotal: tolerance rises rapidly during a binge and partially recovers after 3β5 days; baseline by 7β14 days if no further use. Crossβtolerance with other aminorex derivatives and common stimulants is likely but unquantified.
