Summary
4-Benzylpiperidine (4-PMPD) is a piperidine-based stimulant. It acts mainly as a monoamine releasing agent, with in vitro release assays showing EC50 values of approximately 41 nM for norepinephrine and 109 nM for dopamine and over 40-fold lower efficacy at SERT; weak MAO-A inhibition appears at approximately 130 ฮผM, relevant only at very high doses. An oral threshold of 25-50 mg produces mild wakefulness, while the common range of 75-200 mg yields pronounced alertness, pupil dilation, and appetite suppression.
