A Fantastic Experience I am a quite fit young male with a reasonable level of experience in altered states of consciousness and drugs in general. For a long time I had wanted to try Absinthe . I decided to order a bottle online . I ordered a 50cl bottle, which was about £30, and waited for it to arrive.

Summary
Absinthe is a distilled spirit infused with herbs including the thujone-containing Artemisia absinthium. Many describe its effects as significantly different than alcohol alone, but the nature of thujone's effects are much disputed. It was popularized in the late 19th century and associated with the bohemian artistic movements of the time.

I finally had the opportunity to try absinthe this summer while visiting the Czech republic. The first time was with a 350ml bottle, shared between 3 people, in the city of Prague. (Hill's brand). The stuff was 60% alcohol if I remember correctly, and bitter like chartreuse or jagermeister.
I had just gotten back from Spain with a bottle of Absinthe that my friend, Michael had urged me to buy. It seemed fine and he told me that we would have immense amounts of fun. Well, not the case at all. My cousin decided that we should take a couple of shots before Michael arrived.
My journey into the effects of thujone containing alcoholic beverages began after reading an article from the Journal of Studies on Alcohol (Dettling, 2004). The article suggested that a dose of 0.28mg/kg of alpha-thujone in an amount of alcohol to yield a BAC of 0.04 (roughly 2 drinks for a 78kg male like me) produced...
A couple years ago I purchased a bottle of Czech absinthe online, but wasnt too impressed with it, and found out that I had bought the low thujone content one by mistake.

I started experimenting with Thujone a couple of months ago, taken from the common plant Tanacetum Vulgare (Common Tansy.) If you wish to experiment with this, make certain you do not use other varieties of Tansy. There is one in particular that causes liver malfunction and death to farm animals.
A few friends and I decided that we wanted to try and make some of our own absinthe. So we looked up how to desolve thujone(psychoactive chemical in wormwood), and it could be desolved with either ethanol, diethyl ether, or formaldahyde.

There were constructions all over Vienna at the time I was there. After getting lost in the work-in-progress but still operational subway station, then getting lost twice on the street for following the wrong arrows, I finally saw... busses! That must be it. I ordered a return ticket to Bratislava. It was around 5pm.
Earlier this year, mid october, a friend of mine received an order of "Absinthe King" brand absinthe, which is based on an old swiss recipe. We didnt use the sugar cubes or anything, we just wanted to try it to find out the true nature of absinthe's mystical history.
