Aliases: 3-chloroamphetamine
Summary
3-CAF is a positional isomer of the neurotoxic para-chloramphetamine (PCA). In vitro work (Urban et al., 2012) indicates potent serotonin and moderate dopamine/noradrenaline release (EC50 β 35 nM for 5-HT, 280 nM for DA). Neurotoxicity appears reduced compared with PCA but long-term serotonergic depletion has been observed in rat cortex at β₯10 mg/kg (Kindred et al., 2015).
Dose Information
Dose basis. Human data are scarce; ranges largely derive from scattered user reports. Always use an accurate 0.001 g scale, consider an allergy test (β1β2 mg), and titrate cautiously. Insufficient evidence to support frequent redosing. Faster onset with steeper cardiovascular load and more local irritation. Volumetric dosing recommended to avoid overestimation from hygroscopic powders; avoid repeated lines due to mucosal injury risk. (Dose figures and this note are from Drugs.Wiki.)

Add to PsychonautWiki Journal
The PsychonautWiki Journal logging app doesn't include every substance. To track 3-CAF there, start adding an ingestion, search for the name, and choose to add it as a custom substance. Paste these values:
3-CAF Source: SubstanceSearch (substancesearch.com) Oral dose (mg): threshold 5 Β· light 5-10 Β· common 10-20 Β· strong 20-35 Β· heavy 35+ (not advised) Insufflated dose (mg): threshold 2 Β· light 2-5 Β· common 5-12 Β· strong 12-20 Β· heavy 20+ (not advised) Oral duration: onset 20-45m Β· peak 1.5-3h Β· offset 1-2h Β· total 2.83-5.75h Β· after-effects 1-4m Insufflated duration: onset 20-45m Β· peak 1.5-3h Β· offset 1-2h Β· total 2.83-5.75h Β· after-effects 1-4m Note: ranges are harm-reduction guidance, not a prescription. Start low, go slow, and test your substances.
Tip: for quicker logging you can also add a Custom Unit in the app, e.g. common dose ~ 15 mg (Oral).
The app keeps custom substances simple, so the full dose ranges live in the description text above. Ranges are harm-reduction guidance, not a prescription.
Tolerance
Tolerance Decay
Acute tolerance: develops within a single session β the reset numbers above apply after sustained heavy use, not after one binge. Within-session tachyphylaxis usually resets largely overnight.
Based on general entactogen/stimulant patterns: acute tolerance develops within a session; partial tolerance persists days to weeks, decaying roughly over 2β6 weeks depending on use intensity, sleep, and nutrition.
