Summary
Alprazolam is a prescription triazolobenzodiazepine primarily used for panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. It should only be used under medical supervision due to high abuse potential and severe withdrawal syndrome. Never discontinue abruptly after regular useβalways taper gradually under medical guidance to prevent potentially fatal seizures. Higher doses significantly increase blackout risk and compulsive redosing. Alprazolam is metabolized by CYP3A4; inhibitors significantly increase blood levels and side effects.
